Description: Trims fixed tissues regardless of route of submission maintaining proper turnaround times. Make the data entry into PTOE and Transcription. Decal fixed samples when needed. Fixes tissues in formaic acid or formalin if needed. Stores and disposes wet tissues according to EHS guidelines. Transport and load trimmed tissues onto the tissue processors in the Histology lab. Takes and annotates pictures of fixed tissues using the Spot Software and digital camera. Maintains a safe and clean work environment. Instructs and trains other staff on how to trim various types of fixed tissues. Helps to identify and solves technical and submission problems. Consults with veterinarians and other clients in order to provide information on selecting the correct test. Works with pathologists, residents, students, researchers and other VDL staff to trouble shoot trimming questions, e.g. submission errors, inconsistencies in trimmed versus embedded tissues, proper margin and tissue identification etc. Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs of complex lab equipment and calibrates instruments in order to ensure reliable results. Ensures accurate test ordering and billing. Maintains QA/QC records, identifies variances, resolves QA/QC issues.
