Posts laboratory results to their proper destination (i.e. medical records, nursing station, etc.). 6. Identifies and correctly labels various laboratory specimens. 7. Sets up, maintains, adjusts and ensures correct function of each machine within the laboratory. 8. Collects legal specimens and testifies in court as deemed by subpoena. 9. Unpacks, dates and correctly stores laboratory supplies as they arrive. 10. Notifies doctors or their designees of panic or critical values immediately when they arise. 11. Accepts verbal orders from physicians. 12. Prepares various reagents as needed. These reagents must be properly prepared, dated, and stored as needed. 13. Performs housekeeping duties as needed. 14. Must attend 75% of designated departmental and hospital educational meetings. 15. Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security procedures and protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures. 16. Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information. 17. Maintains and protects patients rights under the HIPAA Privacy Standards. 13.
